GBP video verification: pass the first time
One continuous recording, filmed in the right order, with no cuts. Most failures are preparation failures.
- One continuous take. A cut is a fail.
- Establish location, then equipment, then authority, in that order.
- Address on screen must match the profile, including suite formatting.
- Some home-based profiles do not pass regardless of preparation.
What does the verification video have to establish?
A Google Business Profile video verification has to establish three things, in one unbroken take: that the location is real and matches what you claimed, that you have the equipment and materials of the business you say you run, and that you have authority over the place, meaning keys, access, signage, post.
The recording cannot be edited. A cut is a fail.
In what order should you film the video?
Film the verification video as one continuous take that runs from outside to inside: location first, then equipment, then authority. Start outside with something that fixes the location: street signage, the building number, a nearby road name. Then walk in without stopping the recording.
Inside, show the tools, stock, vehicles or workspace that make the business plausible. Then show authority: unlocking a door, opening a cabinet, addressed post, branded paperwork.
Finish on something that ties the business to you personally. Keep talking through it, plainly.
Why does GBP video verification fail?
These are the failure modes that show up on GBP verification videos. Filmed in portions and stitched together. Signage never shown. Home-based operation filmed in a way that never demonstrates a working business. Address on screen not matching the address on the profile, including suite formatting.
That last one catches people who wrote Suite 200 in one place and Ste 200 in another.
What should you do if the verification video fails?
If a GBP verification video is rejected, you usually get another attempt. Treat the second one as the last, prepare the route in advance, and film it in daylight.
We will say plainly that some home-based profiles do not pass regardless of preparation, because the evidence a video can show is thin when the business runs from a kitchen table.
“Most failures are preparation failures.”
