The definition
The Work Ledger is the itemised record of work completed in a period, delivered with every monthly report. Every line is dated and specific enough that you could verify it against your own site.
This is Mindflow’s own vocabulary rather than an industry term, and we label it as such.
Why it exists separately from the numbers
Because activity and outcome are different things, and most agency reporting collapses them. A ledger of work done is not evidence that visibility improved; three measured numbers are not evidence anyone did anything.
Reporting both, side by side and never merged, lets you see whether the work and the movement line up, including when they do not.
What it does not contain
Vague entries. “Ongoing SEO optimisation” is not a ledger line. “Two conflicting directory records suppressed, old suite number” is.
Check it yourself
Take last month's report from whoever handles your marketing and try to verify three specific lines against your own site.
If you cannot, because the lines are too vague to check — that is the difference between a ledger and a summary.
