Quick answer

What does marketing for a restoration company need to do?

When water is on the floor, the homeowner calls the first name they trust, often from a phone. ChatGPT, asked about a named restoration company, cited its BBB profile, license records, certifications and website, and nearly every "who should I call" answer cited a national franchise brand's website. Marketing has to put you in front of those homeowners and have your pages ready before the next event.

What makes restoration marketing different?

Restoration demand arrives with storms, freezes and burst pipes, and the calls come at any hour. Certification comes up when people check you, national brands show up in the AI answers, and some owners already pay for calls. We plan your profile and pages so the right calls reach you, from your own channels.

  • Emergencies come at any hour.Nearly every restoration homepage in our research said emergency service. Saying it isn't enough: your hours, service area and phone number have to be right everywhere they appear, and calls have to be answered. We check that calls and forms are tracked.
  • Demand comes with events.A single storm, freeze or hurricane can set a city's busiest month, and the risk months differ by city. We get your pages and profile current before your local risk months.
  • Certification gets checked. In our study, ChatGPT (API, with web search) cited a certification or trade body such as the IICRC in 931 of 1,500 answers about named restoration companies. We make your certifications, your process and how you work with insurance clear on the pages people land on.
  • Big franchise brands show up in the "who should I call" answers. An independent company has to be easy to verify to be compared at all. We start with the records homeowners and AI tools check first.
  • Bought calls can cost a lot.One restoration owner in our research pays about $500 a call; another says paid call leads bring few jobs. We build calls through your own profile, site and reviews.

The problem
"we struggled to generate consistent leads online and were invisible in search results."
The work

  • from 1 county to several across Metro Atlanta
  • from 5 people to 12
  • reputation work that helped maintain a 4.9-star average rating.

Which sources did ChatGPT cite when asked about a named restoration company?

In our October 2026 study, we asked ChatGPT (API, with web search) whether named water damage restoration companies were legitimate and good to hire, two answers per business. Most answers cited the BBB, a license or registration record and the company's own website, and many cited a certification or trade body.

When we asked which water damage companies a homeowner in that city should call, 249 of 250 answers cited a national franchise brand's website.

What do restoration websites and profiles show?

Across 445 saved restoration homepages, almost all stated emergency service and had a click-to-call link; few showed any online booking option. Among companies in the Google Maps top three, review pace didn't separate the ones ChatGPT named from the rest: a median of 2 new reviews in 90 days for the 40 named, 3 for the 92 not named.

Source: Mindflow research, saved homepages of water damage restoration companies in 50 metros and their newest Google reviews, October 2026, counted from our saved data files, before the study's final review. "Named" means ChatGPT (OpenAI API with web search) named the company when asked who to call. An association, not a cause.

When do restoration searches peak?

Nationally, these searches don't follow a steady season: one month, September 2025, had about ten times a typical month's searches, which lifts the four-year September average to about four times June's. City peaks are spread across the year, from January in Nashville to June in Atlanta and November in Orlando, and a single storm, freeze or hurricane can set a city's peak. We plan around your market's risk months, not a national calendar.

Before we talk

Questions restoration owners ask

Do you handle insurance or adjuster work?
No. We don't handle claims or work with insurers for you. We make sure your pages explain clearly how you work with insurance, what happens on the first visit and which certifications your team holds, so those answers are on the page before anyone has to ask.
Should I keep buying water damage calls?
That's your call; it's a different model, and some owners pay a lot per call. We help generate calls through your own Google Business Profile, website and reviews, and Mindflow doesn't sell or share them. We check that calls are tracked, so your monthly report shows what your tracking records.
Do you market mold, fire or storm work too?
Yes, if you want more of that work. Each service line gets its own page and its own place on your Business Profile. How many service lines you want to grow is one of the things that sets your price.
We're a franchise location. Can you work with us?
Often, yes. If your franchise agreement sets rules about websites, profiles, ads or how calls are routed, we start from what it allows and work within it. We look at your local profile and pages in the free review. If your franchisor runs your website, we focus on your Business Profile, your reviews and the pages you are allowed to change.
How do we prepare before storm or freeze season?
Start a few months before your market's risk months, so service pages, your Business Profile and your call handling are ready before demand jumps. The table above shows each city's four-year average; we agree priorities and timing for your own market.
How long does SEO take?
Usually months, not weeks. How fast depends on your competitors and on how complete your Business Profile and site are today.
Do you guarantee rankings?
No. No one can guarantee a spot on Google or in an AI answer. We show you the work and the results.
Is AI SEO extra?
No. AI search optimization is included in SEO in every plan.
Am I locked into a contract?
The first 90 days are committed and billed monthly. After that it's month to month with 30 days' notice.
Who owns my accounts and website?
You do. Every account stays in your name, and website files and copy are yours once paid.
Will you work with my competitor?
No. We won't work with your direct competitor in your area.
Do I need a new website?
Not always. If yours can't turn visits into calls, we'll say so and quote a site separately.
Do you run Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads?
Case by case. Our plans cover SEO, AI search, your Google Business Profile, reviews and conversion. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. Ad spend goes to the platform and isn't part of our fee.
