Quick answer

What decides whether your profile shows up and gets chosen?

Google says local results depend on three things: relevance (how well your profile matches the search), distance (how far you are from the searcher) and prominence (how well known you are, including your reviews). You can't change distance. You can improve relevance and prominence with a complete, accurate profile, steady reviews and a website that backs up what the profile says. Being shown isn't the same as being chosen; the profile has to do both.

What should you keep complete and current on your profile?

This is a practical checklist of what to keep complete and current; Google doesn't publish a weighting, so treat it as a list, not a ranking formula. Our Google Business Profile handbook covers each item step by step.

  1. The right primary category.Choose the primary category that best describes your core business. Additional categories should reflect services you actually provide.
  2. Your services. Each service you offer, named the way customers say it.
  3. Your service areas. The towns you really cover. If customers don't come to you, hide your address; Google allows this for service-area businesses.
  4. Accurate hours and phone.Including emergency hours if you take emergency calls.
  5. Real photos.Your team, trucks and finished work. They show customers who will show up.
  6. Regular updates.New photos and posts about recent work.
  7. Reviews, with replies.A steady flow of reviews and a reply to each one, good or bad.

A note on messages: Google retired the chat feature in Business Profiles on July 31, 2024. Eligible profiles can now receive messages by SMS or WhatsApp instead.

What do we do with your profile?

We set up or clean up your profile, keep it accurate and active, help run your review requests and replies, and report what the profile brings. Profile management is part of every plan, alongside local SEO, AI search, reviews and conversion work; it isn't sold on its own.

  • Set up or clean upcategories, services, service areas, hours, description and photos.
  • Keep it accuratechanges to services, hours or areas kept up to date, and your name, phone and areas matching your website and listings.
  • Keep it activeregular photos and updates about recent jobs.
  • Reviewsrequests go out from your own system, which we help you set up, and each new review gets a reply drafted for your approval (reviews and reputation).
  • Report what it bringscall-button clicks, website clicks and other profile interactions Google shows.
Quick answer

Who owns your Google Business Profile?

You do. You stay the owner of your profile, like every account we work in: you own every account. If you ever leave, the profile, its reviews and its history stay with you.

Case study

Case study: a fence company, from one county to Metro Atlanta

The problem

"we struggled to generate consistent leads online and were invisible in search results."

The work

SEO and web design over an 8-year partnership, plus reputation management.

The results Zack Goekjian (CEO) describes in his testimonial
  • "Within the first year, our website started ranking for competitive keywords like 'Atlanta fence installation' and 'Atlanta fence company'"
  • 250% more qualified leads
  • from 1 county to several across Metro Atlanta
  • from 5 people to 12
  • reputation work that helped maintain a 4.9-star average rating.

These are Zack's own figures from his testimonial, not numbers we measured. Results depend on your market and starting point.

How we work together

What we do for your business

  1. First

    Fix the foundation.

Your Business Profile, access to your accounts, the technical problems that stop Google from reading your site, and your name, phone and services matching everywhere.

  2. Next

Build what your customers search for.

A page for each service and town you really cover, answers to the questions customers ask, and a review process your team can run.

  3. Ongoing

    Grow and report.

New pages where the searches are, review replies, changes that turn more visits into calls, and a plain report on what we did, what moved and what's next. You get a written report every month and a call every quarter.

What you provide

What we need from you: access to your accounts, the services and towns you want more work in, and quick answers when we have questions.

Quick answer

How will you know your profile is working?

You get a written report every month and a call every quarter. It shows call-button clicks, website clicks and other available profile interactions, new reviews and replies, what we changed and what's next. A call-button click isn't always a connected call; where connected-call or lead records are available, we report those separately. Between calls, you deal with Youssef directly: calls and texts are answered as they come in, emails usually within hours.

What clients say

"Mindflow Marketing has been our digital partner for 8 years, and they've been instrumental in transforming Precision Fenceworks from a small local operation to the established fence company we are today. … What impresses me most is how Youssef takes the time to understand the fencing industry specifically, not just generic marketing. I'd recommend Mindflow Marketing to any home service business looking for a digital partner who delivers measurable results and genuinely cares about your business growth."

FAQ

Questions about Google Business Profiles

The work

Can I hide my address?
Yes. If you work at customers' locations and they don't come to you, list your service areas and hide your address. Google's guidelines allow this for service-area businesses. Your profile can still show in the map for the areas you serve.
My profile was suspended. What should I do first?
Review the reason Google gives and correct the actual issue before you request reinstatement. Avoid changing details that were already accurate, since that can make it worse. We look at it in the free review; recovery isn't guaranteed. Our guide on suspended profiles explains the steps.
Can I just do this myself?
Yes, and our handbook shows how. The hard part is keeping it up: updates, photos and review replies slip when the schedule fills up. That's the part we take on.
Do I need a new website?
Not always. If yours can't turn visits into calls, we'll say so and quote a site separately.

Cost and terms

Is a Google Business Profile free?
Yes. Google doesn't charge for the profile. What costs time is keeping it complete, accurate and active: updating services and hours, adding photos, asking for reviews and replying to them. That steady work is part of every Mindflow plan.
Will you take ownership of my profile?
No. You stay the owner of your profile, like every account we work in. If you leave, you keep the profile, its reviews and its history.
Am I locked into a contract?
The first 90 days are committed and billed monthly. After that it's month to month with 30 days' notice.
Who owns my accounts and website?
You do. Every account stays in your name, and website files and copy are yours once paid.
Will you work with my competitor?
No. We won't work with your direct competitor in your area.
Do you run Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads?
Case by case. Our plans cover SEO, AI search, your Google Business Profile, reviews and conversion. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. Ad spend goes to the platform and isn't part of our fee.

AI and results

How long does SEO take?
Usually months, not weeks. How fast depends on your competitors and on how complete your Business Profile and site are today.
Do you guarantee rankings?
No. No one can guarantee a spot on Google or in an AI answer. We show you the work and the results.
Is AI SEO extra?
No. AI search optimization is included in SEO in every plan.
