The LSA Money Back Guarantee is gone. What to say instead

Google discontinued it in October 2025 and replaced the badge rather than the protection. If your copy still promises it, it is promising something that does not exist.

I run Mindflow Marketing. We get home-service companies found on Google and named by the engines buyers now ask first: Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Served from our Atlanta office, with published pricing and a measurement protocol you can read before you spend a dollar.

WHERE WE WORK FROM

The office is in Atlanta and it is the only one we hold. Contractors in other metros are served from there. We will not open a mailbox to look local.

PRICING IN PUBLIC

Every rate is on the pricing page. No quote call required to learn what this costs.

ONE PER CATEGORY

One company per metro in each service category. The competitor down the road cannot buy the same seat.

What is AI visibility, and how is it different from SEO?

AI visibility, also called answer engine optimization or AEO, is the practice of getting a business named inside AI-generated answers. SEO earns a ranked link a buyer clicks. AEO earns a mention inside the answer itself, in Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini, where no click may ever happen.

The two run on overlapping machinery. Google states that its generative features are rooted in its core Search ranking and quality systems, so a page has to be indexed and eligible before it can be quoted. Classic SEO is the floor, not an alternative to it.

What sits above that floor is different work. An assistant is choosing which home-service companies to name, and it draws on how clearly your company is defined as an entity, how consistently it is described across the web, what independent sources say about it, and whether your pages answer the question in a passage it can lift whole.

Nobody can force a recommendation. Mindflow Marketing builds the entity footprint, the citable pages and the review base the assistants draw on, then scores where you land on twelve frozen buying questions across three platforms each quarter, with the screenshots archived and dated.

Key takeaways
  • The Money Back Guarantee was discontinued on 20 October 2025.
  • A single Google Verified badge replaced four labels. Nothing replaced the money-back element.
  • Final consumer claims closed on 7 December 2025.
  • Check service pages, ad extensions and call scripts. Stale claims live longest there.
THE CHANGE, AS PUBLISHED

What changed with the LSA Money Back Guarantee, and when?

Every load-bearing line here is a date or Google’s own wording. The table carries those. Our reading of them sits underneath it, labelled as ours.

Replacement statusNothing replaced the money-back element. Only the badge was replaced.Mindflow observation, not a published source

What we read from that, and this part is our judgement rather than anything the sources state: the badge kept its persuasive job and the payout behind it did not, so a page still describing a refund is describing something a homeowner cannot now obtain.

Sources: Google, Local Services Ads community announcement, 20 August 2025, for every dated row above. The replacement-status row is ours. This page carries no Checked date, because the note it was built from recorded none and we will not invent one.

Why does this matter more than a badge change?

The Money Back Guarantee was doing real persuasive work. It let a homeowner hire a stranger with a backstop, and it was the single most quotable thing about Local Services Ads.

A lot of contractor websites and ad copy still reference it, because it was written once and never revisited. Promising a guarantee that was withdrawn ten months ago is a trust problem rather than a compliance one, and the person who discovers it is a customer with a complaint.

Check your site, your ad extensions, your email templates and anything a call handler reads from. This is the kind of claim that survives in the places nobody audits.

What should you say instead?

Say what is still true. Google Verified still means background and licence checks were run, and that is worth stating plainly rather than dressing up.

Then say what you offer, because that is now the differentiator. A platform-level guarantee is gone; a workmanship warranty you actually stand behind is yours and is specific.

Resist replacing one borrowed proof with another. The reason this change hurts is that a lot of businesses were leaning on Google’s credibility rather than building their own, and the fix is to build your own.

What would we check today?

  • Every page mentioning the guarantee, including service pages written years ago.
  • Ad copy and callout extensions, which is where stale claims live longest.
  • Review responses and email templates that cite it.
  • Any third-party directory profile you control, since those get copied and quoted.

“A lot of businesses were leaning on Google's credibility rather than building their own.”

What does Mindflow Marketing deliver for a home-service company?

Five pillars run together inside one engagement: local SEO and Google Maps, organic search, AI visibility, reputation and brand SERP, and conversion tracking. Each is reported with the denominator stated beside the number, so a figure can be checked instead of believed.

Local SEO and Google Maps

Google Business Profile optimisation and map-grid tracking read across your whole service area, not off a single pin. A grid tells you whether you are losing on trust signals or on distance, and those have different fixes.

Organic search

Technical foundations, site architecture and the searches that turn into high-ticket jobs, built from the work you actually closed.

AI visibility and entity work

Entity disambiguation, organisation schema, knowledge-graph alignment and passages written so an assistant can lift them whole. This decides whether ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google AI Overviews name your company or a competitor.

Reputation and brand SERP

What a buyer and an assistant both see when they search your name. With a platform guarantee withdrawn, your reviews, your warranty terms and your own brand page carry the vouching that a badge used to do.

Conversion tracking

Calls and forms tracked through to the booked job.

Measurement you can audit

Share of Answer across twelve frozen buying questions, three platforms, three runs each, scored out of twelve with screenshots archived and dated.

Rankings are never guaranteed. Anything we could not trace to a primary source is absent from this page, not estimated. The audit runs the same six layers described on the pricing page, and Share of Answer is scored quarterly.

How the first 90 days work

Every Mindflow Marketing engagement opens with a diagnostic. The first 90 days establish a baseline you can hold us to, fix what is structurally broken, and put the first measured movement on the record.

  1. Free Visibility Check. The twelve real buying questions for your trade, asked across Google Maps, Google and the assistants. You get the screenshots. No call required to receive it.
  2. Local Visibility Audit. Crawlability and indexation, entity and schema state, map-grid position across your service area, review base, and the competitive gap. Delivered written, with the working shown.
  3. Baseline measurement. Share of Answer scored before any work begins, so the starting number exists in writing and cannot be revised later.
  4. Foundations, weeks 1 to 6. Technical fixes, entity and organisation schema, Google Business Profile, and a sweep of every stale claim on the site, starting with the guarantee copy.
  5. Authority and content, weeks 4 to 12. Citable pages, review systems, and the off-site corroboration assistants rely on when deciding whether a company is real.
  6. First remeasurement. The same twelve questions, the same conditions, scored against the baseline. Movement or no movement, both go in the report.

PUBLISHED RESULTS

What has Mindflow Marketing actually produced?

Two clients have given written permission to publish their numbers. Precision Fenceworks is a Georgia fence company working Athens, Alpharetta, Atlanta and Gwinnett, verified live 2026-06-16. Fireside Antiques is an eCommerce antiques dealer in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with Search Console and Ahrefs data pulled 2026-06-10.

PRECISION FENCEWORKS · GEORGIA

In Athens, where it ranks second in the map pack and third organic, three of the four major AI assistants recommend Precision Fenceworks, with Perplexity giving it as its first pick. 87 AI mentions across 72 cited pages, and 631 Precision Fenceworks reviews at a 4.9 average.

In Alpharetta the same client is first organic and third in the map pack, beaten on proximity and not on trust signals. In Lawrenceville it holds page one organic with zero map presence.

In Atlanta it has no reachable map presence against 100,000+ impressions in sixteen months. Their pin sits in Alpharetta, proximity decides the Google map pack, and no page moves a building.

FIRESIDE ANTIQUES · LOUISIANA

Five of eight tracked core terms ranking strong, with dining tables, armoires, mirrors and coffee tables all recovered to first position.

A national eCommerce catalogue, which is why it sits here as evidence of method and not as a forecast for a contractor running Local Services Ads.

Neither published client is a Local Services Ads case study, and I will not dress one up as though it were.

What transfers between one business and the next is the method: the audit, the frozen questions, the stated denominators and the work ledger. A promise about your own street does not transfer.

What we cannot show either: revenue, lead volume and job values for Precision Fenceworks, and sales and revenue for Fireside Antiques. Neither client’s permission covers it. So we cannot tell you whether this visibility became money, and we would rather say that than let a chart imply it. Two clients is not a large portfolio and we are not going to present it as one.

What does SEO and AI visibility cost?

Mindflow Marketing publishes every rate. A Visibility Check is free. A Local Visibility Audit is $3,500 to $7,500 and credits against your first invoice if you start a monthly partnership within 30 calendar days of delivery. The monthly partnership starts at $3,500 a month on a 90-day initial term, then runs month to month. No setup fee and no annual contract.

The credit caps at that first invoice and does not carry forward. At the bottom of the range a $3,500 audit against a $3,500 first month costs you nothing if you continue. At the top, a $7,500 audit against a $3,500 first month credits $3,500 and the remainder is spent. We would rather you ran that sum at your own desk than found it on an invoice.

The full ladder, with what sits inside each tier, is on the pricing page.

Which trades and markets does Mindflow Marketing serve?

The trades this note is written for sit under home services: roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fencing, garage door and remodeling. Every one of them can run Local Services Ads, so every one of them can be carrying the withdrawn promise.

We work the same way for high-value legal, specialty healthcare and considered-purchase eCommerce. The common thread is deal value: one won job has to pay for months of the work, or the arithmetic does not close.

Everything is served from the Atlanta office, and the state pages carry the licensing and permit detail: Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, the Atlanta metro and every other market.

Questions owners ask

Is the Google Guarantee gone?

The badge was consolidated into a single Google Verified badge from 20 October 2025. The money-back element attached to the old Google Guarantee was discontinued, and nothing replaced it. The label still does work for you. The payout behind it does not, so the sentences describing that payout come down.

Can customers still claim?

No. Google set a final consumer claim deadline of 7 December 2025, for claims within thirty days of service completion. That window has closed, so a homeowner reading a refund promise on your site today has no route to one. A page still walking them through the claim describes something that no longer runs.

What should replace it in my copy?

What is still true, which is that Google Verified means background and licence checks were run, plus your own workmanship warranty. Borrowed credibility is what made this change painful in the first place. Write the warranty out in full: what it covers, how long it lasts, who a homeowner calls. A promise you control does more work than a borrowed one.

Where is Mindflow Marketing based, and does that limit who you work with?

The office is in Atlanta and it is the only one we hold. Contractors in Florida, Texas, Tennessee, the Carolinas and the rest of Georgia are served from there and the work is identical. We will not open a mailbox in your city, because a fake address gets a Google Business Profile suspended.

Will you work with my competitor?

No. Mindflow Marketing takes one company per metro in each service category. If a roofing company in your metro signs first, we turn down every other roofer there for the life of that engagement, including better-funded ones. It caps how large this agency can grow, and that is a trade we accept deliberately.

Is your site still promising something Google withdrew?

The twelve real buying questions for your trade, asked across Google Maps, Google and the AI assistants. Free, with screenshots, and no call required to receive it.
