AI Search Optimization for Dallas Home-Service Companies

In our Dallas research, AI answers named the businesses in Google's local pack more often than the ones leading Google Maps. Mindflow helps Dallas contractors keep the facts those answers check accurate, from the Business Profile to the Texas license record. Every plan for SEO in Dallas includes that AI search work.

Quick answer

Do AI answers in Dallas follow Google Maps or the local pack?

More often the local pack. In our October 2026 study, ChatGPT named 10 of the 24 Dallas businesses in Google's local pack across eight trades, but only 5 of the 24 in the Google Maps top three. Across all 50 metros, the counts were 569 of 1,193 and 352 of 1,183.

Electricians show it most clearly. The three electricians leading Google Maps and the three in the local pack were six different businesses. ChatGPT (the OpenAI API with web search, five answers per trade) named all three from the local pack and none of the Maps leaders. In Dallas, a top map spot alone didn't get an electrician named.

How did each Dallas trade compare?

Garage door repair did best: ChatGPT named 2 of the 3 Maps leaders, and both were on all three lists. Electrical, HVAC, remodeling and water damage had none of their Maps leaders named. Roofing had the most names we couldn't tie to a single Google listing, 6 of Dallas's 25.

Fort Worth was checked as its own metro, so its results aren't in this table: ChatGPT named 7 of its 24 Maps leaders and 10 of its 24 local pack businesses.

What does the Texas license search show for a Dallas electrician or A/C contractor?

Texas electricians and air conditioning contractors are on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation's search, which shows active licenses only. Anyone can search by license type, license number, name or business name, city or county. Plumbers are on a separate board's search, the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners.

Check three things on your own record:

  • The business name matches the name on your site and Business Profile.
  • The license type matches the work you advertise, such as electrical work or air conditioning.
  • The renewal date. The search lists active licenses only, so a lapsed license won't show up for anyone checking. Keep renewals ahead of the expiration date.

Across our study, answers about named electrical contractors cited a government or licensing site in 1,298 of 1,500 cases.

Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, "TDLR Active License Search" (data last updated October 31, 2026), and the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners site, both read November 1, 2026. This isn't legal advice. Citation counts: what ChatGPT checks before recommending a contractor.

What can a Dallas roofer show when there's no state roofing license to look up?

Roofing isn't among the license types on the TDLR search, so a Dallas roofer needs other records customers and AI tools can check. Across our study, answers about named roofers cited the BBB in 1,410 of 1,500 cases, a government or licensing site in 1,322, and manufacturer or certification sources in 892.

That gives a Dallas roofer three things to get right:

  • Your BBB profilethe same name, phone and service area as your site.
  • Manufacturer credentialslisted on your site with the exact program name the manufacturer uses, so it matches the manufacturer's own listing of your company.
  • Your own sitea page for each roofing service you sell, with your service area stated plainly.

Roofing citation counts across 50 metros: what ChatGPT checks before recommending a contractor; roofing study results. Rules can differ by city; this isn't legal advice.

Quick answer

What did AI tools cite when we searched "AI SEO services in Dallas"?

Pages built for that city and service, in the one sample we have. On October 25, 2026, Perplexity's answer cited 10 pages, and 5 were built for Dallas and AI SEO; ChatGPT's one answer cited 9, and 2 were. Both came through their APIs on one day, so treat this as an example, not a ranking.

That search was for our own industry, not yours, and we haven't run the same test for contractor searches. The logic is still worth acting on: a page that names one service and the place you do it gives an AI tool something specific to cite when someone asks for that service there.

Where would Mindflow start with a Dallas company?

With the gap the data points to. We'd first make sure you can appear in the local pack, then that your license and BBB records match your site, then that each service has a page AI tools can cite. All of it is part of your SEO plan.

  1. Local packyour Business Profile categories, service area, reviews and photos.
  2. Recordsyour TDLR or plumbing board record, BBB profile and listings, compared with your site; we fix what we manage and flag the rest.
  3. Pagesa page for each service and each town you really work in.

The full scope is on our AI search optimization page. We can't promise a mention in any AI answer; we can show you, month by month, what those answers say.

Questions about AI search in Dallas

Two Dallas garage door companies made all three lists. What did they have in common?

We can't see why from our study, which shows associations, not causes. One association across all 50 metros: Maps leaders that ChatGPT named more often had sites with five or more service pages, 269 of 323 crawlable sites against 412 of 752 for the ones it skipped. Separate service pages are worth having anyway.

We're a Dallas HVAC company licensed through TDLR. Why weren't any HVAC companies named?

In our check, ChatGPT named none of the three HVAC companies leading Google Maps and none in the local pack. One day of five answers can't explain that. Make sure your TDLR air conditioning contractor record shows the name on your site, and that your Business Profile, BBB profile and service pages all describe your company the same way.

How can ChatGPT name a Dallas business that isn't on Google's map at all?

It searches the web and reads what it finds: review sites, the BBB, license records and company websites. Our study shows what it cited, not how it chose. So a Dallas contractor can be strong on Maps and missing from AI answers, or the other way round. Our guide explains why AI names contractors Maps doesn't show.

Can you tell me which Dallas businesses ChatGPT named in my trade?

Not from the study; it names no business. Your free AI Visibility Review shows what Google's AI and ChatGPT say for two searches in your own service area, and how your reviews compare with your top three competitors. You'll have it within 2 business days.

We're based in Fort Worth. Does the Dallas data apply to us?

Not directly. Fort Worth was its own metro in our study: ChatGPT named 7 of its 24 Maps leaders and 10 of its 24 local pack businesses, with 6 businesses on all three lists, against 4 in Dallas. Fort Worth's per-trade results are on our Home-Service Visibility Study, and SEO in Fort Worth covers that market.

How long does SEO take?

Usually months, not weeks. How fast depends on your competitors and on how complete your Business Profile and site are today.

Do you guarantee rankings?

No. No one can guarantee a spot on Google or in an AI answer. We show you the work and the results.

Is AI SEO extra?

No. AI search optimization is included in SEO in every plan.

Am I locked into a contract?

The first 90 days are committed and billed monthly. After that it's month to month with 30 days' notice.

Who owns my accounts and website?

You do. Every account stays in your name, and website files and copy are yours once paid.

Will you work with my competitor?

No. We won't work with your direct competitor in your area.

Do I need a new website?

Not always. If yours can't turn visits into calls, we'll say so and quote a site separately.

Do you run Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads?

Case by case. Our plans cover SEO, AI search, your Google Business Profile, reviews and conversion. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. Ad spend goes to the platform and isn't part of our fee.
