Quick answer

What does marketing for a pool company need to do?

It depends on which pool business you run. A builder sells one large project to a family comparing designs and builders. A service company sells a weekly visit to homeowners along its routes. Marketing has to match the job: finished pools and an easy consultation request for builders; service area, plan details and steady reviews for service.

Pool builder or pool service: how does the marketing differ?

Builders and service companies share a trade but not a buyer. Builders need proof of finished pools and a clear path to a consultation. Service companies need to show the towns on their routes, what a visit includes and a steady flow of reviews. If you do both, each side gets its own pages.

What makes pool marketing different?

Licensing defines the work, safety rules shape every new build, and summer drives the searches. In Florida, for example, building and repairing pools needs a Florida pool/spa contractor license, while simple cleaning doesn't. We put your license and the work it covers on your site and profile, in plain words.

  • Licenses define the work you can advertise.Florida law sets separate categories for residential pool/spa contractors, commercial pool/spa contractors and swimming pool/spa servicing contractors. It also says no license is needed for cleaning that doesn't affect the pool's structure or equipment. Rules differ by state; we match your pages to what your license covers.
  • Safety is part of the build. In Florida, a new residential pool must have at least one safety feature, such as a compliant barrier, an approved safety cover or door alarms, to pass final inspection. Clear, general answers on your site help buyers know what to ask their building department.
  • Service routes are local.A service company wants more customers on the streets it already drives. Pages for the towns on your routes, and a Business Profile service area that matches them, come first.
  • A pool is a planned purchase.Buyers want to see finished pools like the one they're picturing before they ask for a consultation. Galleries organized by pool type and town, with your real photos, answer that better than one general "pools" page.
  • Google lists two ad categories."Pool cleaner" and "Pool contractor" are both Local Services Ads categories. Whether ads suit a builder's large projects or a service company's routes is a case-by-case call; our Local Services Ads guide explains how they work.

Case study

Case study: a fence company, from one county to Metro Atlanta

The problem

"we struggled to generate consistent leads online and were invisible in search results."

The work

SEO and web design over an 8-year partnership, plus reputation management.

The results Zack Goekjian (CEO) describes in his testimonial
  • "Within the first year, our website started ranking for competitive keywords like 'Atlanta fence installation' and 'Atlanta fence company'"
  • 250% more qualified leads
  • from 1 county to several across Metro Atlanta
  • from 5 people to 12
  • reputation work that helped maintain a 4.9-star average rating.

These are Zack's own figures from his testimonial, not numbers we measured. Results depend on your market and starting point.

Which license and records should a pool company show ChatGPT and buyers?

Your license with its category, your BBB profile and your website. In Florida, a residential pool/spa contractor's scope covers construction, repair and servicing; a servicing contractor's covers repair and servicing. We haven't measured pool companies, but across the eight trades in our 50-metro study, ChatGPT cited licensing records, the BBB and the company's own site in most of 11,982 answers.

Source cited in the answerAnswers (of 11,982)
Better Business Bureau10,582
Government or licensing site (state boards, business registries)10,288
The company's own website9,557

Source: Mindflow research, OpenAI API with web search, October 2026; answers to "Are they legit and good to hire?" about named businesses in the eight trades of our 50-metro study (electrical, garage door, HVAC, pest control, plumbing, remodeling, roofing, water damage). Pool companies weren't among them. More in what ChatGPT checks before recommending a contractor.

What this means for you: if you hold a pool contractor license, its number and category should match on your website, Business Profile and BBB profile. If you build and service, say which license covers which work, so a buyer planning a new pool and a homeowner who needs a pump repaired both see you're licensed for their job. In our 50-metro study, ChatGPT named 352 of the 1,183 businesses in the Google Maps top three when asked who to call, so a strong map position doesn't carry over by itself.

How many people search for pool builders and pool service in your city?

Houston leads the ten cities we checked on both: about 260 searches a month for "pool builder" and 320 for "pool service" inside city limits. In five of the seven cities where both figures are shown, more people searched for service than for a builder. Suburbs aren't counted, so a metro's total is larger.

"Not shown": that city had one unusual month in the last year for that search, so its average isn't a fair guide.

When do pool searches peak?

In late spring and summer. US pool searches were highest in May in 2023 and 2024 and in July in 2025, and lowest between November and January. Over four years, the busiest month averaged about 1.9 times the quietest. We get pages and profile updates live before your busy months, not during them.

We've worked with a Georgia fence company for 8 years. Read what its CEO says below.

What clients say

"Mindflow Marketing has been our digital partner for 8 years, and they've been instrumental in transforming Precision Fenceworks from a small local operation to the established fence company we are today. … What impresses me most is how Youssef takes the time to understand the fencing industry specifically, not just generic marketing. I'd recommend Mindflow Marketing to any home service business looking for a digital partner who delivers measurable results and genuinely cares about your business growth."

FAQ

Questions pool company owners ask

The work

We build pools and service them. Can you market both?
Yes. Building and service get separate pages and separate services on your Business Profile, so a family planning a new pool and a homeowner who needs weekly service each land in the right place. How many service lines you want to grow is one of the things that sets your price.
Have you worked with pool companies before?
Our published client story is Precision Fenceworks, a Georgia fence company we've worked with for 8 years; its CEO describes the results on this page. We haven't published a pool company story. In the free review we look at your own market: how you show for "pool builder" or "pool service" searches in your towns, your Business Profile, your reviews and what ChatGPT says about you.
When should we start before swim season?
A few months before your busy months, so new pages and profile updates are live when searches rise. Nationally, the busiest month was May or July in recent years, so that usually means starting in winter. We agree priorities and timing for your own market in the plan.
Do I need a new website?
Not always. If yours can't turn visits into calls, we'll say so and quote a site separately.

Cost and terms

Should I keep buying pool leads?
That's your call; it's a different model. A lead service can send the same request to several pool companies, even when the job is weekly service rather than a one-time repair. We help generate consultation requests and service calls through your own Google Business Profile, website and reviews, and Mindflow doesn't sell or share those inquiries. Your monthly report shows what your tracking records.
Am I locked into a contract?
The first 90 days are committed and billed monthly. After that it's month to month with 30 days' notice.
Who owns my accounts and website?
You do. Every account stays in your name, and website files and copy are yours once paid.
Will you work with my competitor?
No. We won't work with your direct competitor in your area.
Do you run Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads?
Case by case. Our plans cover SEO, AI search, your Google Business Profile, reviews and conversion. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. Ad spend goes to the platform and isn't part of our fee.

AI and results

Do you market remodels and equipment repair separately?
Yes, if you want more of that work. Resurfacing, remodels and equipment repair each answer a different search, so each can have its own page with your real project photos. If we work together, the agreed plan sets which pages come first.
How long does SEO take?
Usually months, not weeks. How fast depends on your competitors and on how complete your Business Profile and site are today.
Do you guarantee rankings?
No. No one can guarantee a spot on Google or in an AI answer. We show you the work and the results.
Is AI SEO extra?
No. AI search optimization is included in SEO in every plan.
