Garage Door PPC
Garage door repair is one of two US categories where Google restricts ads until you pass advanced verification, so a garage door ad plan starts with weeks of paperwork, not a budget. If Google Ads or Local Services Ads suit your market, your proposal scopes them beside the rest of the program, and the accounts stay in your name.

Why are Google Ads different for garage door companies?
Because Google restricts them. Its local services policy says ads for garage door repair services are restricted in the US, and to advertise you must apply for advanced verification. Local Services Ads add more: garage door is an urgent category, so the people who do the work get background checks too, and pre-badge ads aren't offered.
What that means before your first ad:
- Search campaigns wait for verification.Google says it warns at least 7 days before suspending an account under this policy, and suggests removing ads you can't bring into line.
- Local Services Ads wait for the full badge. In most trades, pre-badge listings can run while the last checks finish. Garage door services can't. Our Google Verified entry explains the badge.
- Your license is checked for every garage door advertiser.Google's US requirements list a state-level business license for garage door without the "select users" label most trades carry, where local law requires one.
When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. General platform rules are in our Google Ads handbook; the rest of this page is about garage doors.

How does Google's advanced verification work?
It's a video call with Google's verification team, taken at your business location, after you apply with Google's request form and your own Google Ads customer ID. Google says it typically takes about 6 to 8 weeks, and an appeal about as long again. Have a working website and at least one campaign built before you apply.
| Step | What Google says |
|---|---|
| Apply | Use the advanced verification request form with your Google Ads customer ID, not an agency's manager (MCC) ID. Add your professional license details if you have a license. |
| Before you submit | A functional website. New advertisers should create at least one campaign first. |
| The call | Be at your business location. If you work from a vehicle, have it nearby. Bring official documents, such as a business license, if you have them. |
| Timing | About 6 to 8 weeks; appeals also about 6 to 8 weeks. Status shows in the account's Policy manager. |
| While you wait | Keep your website and keywords free of phrases such as "emergency" or "lockout" that might trigger automated flags. |
| More than one location | Locations that share one account are reviewed together: Google reviews all of them before approving any. Google recommends a separate account and application for each separate business. |
| After approval | Report changes to your business name, address or license number through the same form. |
An agency can apply for you; Google's form has fields for the applicant and the owner. Either way, the application rides on your account, so the customer ID should be yours, with you as an Admin. Who should hold which access level is in our Local Services Ads guide.
Separately, LSA itself is moving into Google Ads. Garage door isn't named in Google's list for the August 2026 phase, which starts with select storefront advertisers; service-area businesses follow in late 2026 and remaining categories in 2027. Your completed verification and badge transfer; after that, budgets run as daily averages, manual per-lead bids are gone and license and insurance reverification stops. Our Local Services Ads page has the full list of changes.

What does a garage door Local Services ad cost when no one answers?
It can cost a full lead. Google charges for a missed call during your business hours when the caller stays on more than 20 seconds, and it takes those hours from your Business Profile. The ad schedule defaults to "All day." List 24 hours on the profile, and a missed 2 a.m. call falls inside your hours.
Garage door companies lean on that 24-hour promise: 450 of 577 homepages in our website study stated emergency service. Three settings keep the promise from costing you:
- Hours that match the phone. If nights go to voicemail, cover them or list the hours you answer. During business hours, voicemail counts as a connected call once the caller passes 20 seconds.
- A schedule on purpose.Choose "Only during my business hours" or set days and times, instead of the default; after the move into Google Ads, the schedule is edited in the campaign's settings.
- Prices that hold at the door.Google's platform policies say "Diagnostic charges and trip fees must be disclosed" and give "Quoting a price on the phone but charging a higher price upon arrival for the same job" as bait-and-switch. A low service-call price in an ad has to match what the technician charges.
How fast those calls get answered matters as much as whether they do; see speed to lead.

How should a garage door budget split between repairs and new doors?
Mostly by what each job is worth to you, with repair as the steady base. Repair searches far outnumber installation searches, about five to one in the US, and demand is fairly flat: nationally, the busiest month ran only about 1.4 times the quietest, and no single month led two years on its own.
Cities don't hand you a season either. Three months tied for busiest in 2023 and again in 2024, and March led in 2025. In 11 of the 49 metros we tracked, garage door searches had no steady peak, and the peaks that did show up landed in every month of the year. So:
- Repaira steady budget, an ad schedule that matches answered hours, and calls counted only past a minimum length. Call tracking explains the numbers behind it.
- New doors and openerstheir own campaigns and pages, because buyers compare styles, brands and prices before they book. Judge them on booked installs imported from your records, not on clicks.
- Commercial doorsa separate campaign if you want that work, sent to a page written for property managers.
Before setting either number, look up the top-of-page bid range Keyword Planner shows for your own towns; it reflects what advertisers there have paid, which no national average can.

Searches aren't booked jobs.
What should you ask before hiring a garage door ads company?
Of seven garage door PPC agency pages we reviewed on November 1, 2026, none mentioned advanced verification, two still described the retired Google Guaranteed badge, and two said clients own their ad accounts. Put these five questions to anyone you're considering, and keep the answers on file.
| Ask | What to listen for |
|---|---|
| Who files advanced verification, and under whose customer ID? | Your customer ID, with you as Admin; someone can apply on your behalf |
| What happens during the weeks verification takes? | Nothing that breaks Google's policy; profile, review and page work can carry on |
| Will our website and keywords avoid "emergency" and "lockout" while verification is pending? | Yes, until Google approves; Google warns such phrases might trigger automated flags |
| How are repair and install leads kept apart? | Separate campaigns or job types, with booked jobs from your records |
| What will our ads say about service-call prices? | The same price the technician charges, stated plainly |
Add the standard questions on Admin access and who pays Google, which our Google Ads handbook lists.

Questions about garage door PPC
- Can an agency apply for advanced verification for us?
- Yes. Google lets someone who advertises for other businesses submit the application on the business's behalf, and the form has fields for both the applicant and the owner. Use your own Google Ads customer ID, not the agency's manager account ID, and plan to take the video call at your business location yourself.
- We run two brands. Can they share one Google Ads account?
- Google recommends against it: separate businesses should each have their own Google Ads account and their own application. Locations of one business can share an account, but Google reviews all of them before any can be approved, so one location's missing paperwork can slow the rest. Use your own customer ID for each.
- Why can't we start Local Services Ads while the checks finish?
- Because Google doesn't offer pre-badge ads for garage door services. In most other trades, pre-badge listings run below fully verified providers while the remaining checks are done. Garage door companies wait for the whole screening, including background checks on the people who do the work, so start the paperwork well before you need the leads.
- Does passing Local Services checks cover Google Ads too?
- No. Google says passing Local Services background and license checks doesn't replace advanced verification. It usually works the other way: if you've passed advanced verification for Google Ads and your business name, website and address match, Google can apply the same status to your Local Services ads.
- How long does SEO take?
- Usually months, not weeks. How fast depends on your competitors and on how complete your Business Profile and site are today.
- Do you guarantee rankings?
- No. No one can guarantee a spot on Google or in an AI answer. We show you the work and the results.
- Is AI SEO extra?
- No. AI search optimization is included in SEO in every plan.
- Am I locked into a contract?
- The first 90 days are committed and billed monthly. After that it's month to month with 30 days' notice.
- Who owns my accounts and website?
- You do. Every account stays in your name, and website files and copy are yours once paid.
- Will you work with my competitor?
- No. We won't work with your direct competitor in your area.
- Do I need a new website?
- Not always. If yours can't turn visits into calls, we'll say so and quote a site separately.
- Do you run Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads?
- Case by case. Our plans cover SEO, AI search, your Google Business Profile, reviews and conversion. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. Ad spend goes to the platform and isn't part of our fee.
