What does SEO do for a window and door company?

SEO for a window company is the work that gets you found when a homeowner prices windows or a door, and makes your products, certifications and reviews easy to check. It covers the Google map, search results and AI answers like Google's AI Overviews and ChatGPT (in our research, the OpenAI API with web search).

Estimate requests come through your own profile and site; Mindflow doesn't sell or share leads. Window and door buyers look for a company in three ways:

  • The product and the place"window replacement near me" or "entry door installation in [your town]."
  • The mapthe three companies Google shows first, with their reviews and install photos.
  • Your nameafter a neighbor's new windows or a mailer, they look you up to check your products, warranty and reviews.

The rules that changed for this trade, who ChatGPT named for window replacement and what an in-home sale requires are on our window and door marketing page.

Why can a window company lead on Google Maps but miss the map on the search page?

Because they're separate lists. In our 5-city study of "window replacement", only 4 of the 15 businesses in Google's Maps top three also appeared in the search page's local pack, and just 1 was on both lists and named by ChatGPT. Showing in one doesn't mean you show in the other, so we check both.

CityMaps top three also in the local pack

Austin1 of 3
Charlotte0 of 3
Houston1 of 3
San Antonio1 of 3

The checks behind an AI answer reach further than the map. In 150 ChatGPT answers about named window companies, every one cited at least one review site or directory: Birdeye in 74, Trustpilot in 22, Angi in 16 and HomeAdvisor in 15. If those profiles carry an old phone number or a different business name, that's what the answer works with. Keeping them accurate is part of the plan.

Reported separately from our 50-metro study, which covers eight other trades. How we ran our research.

Which pages does a window and door website need?

A window and door site needs a page for each product line you sell, separate pages for repair and replacement, and a town page only where you've installed real jobs. Google's rules matter here too: a dealer's Business Profile carries its own name, not the maker's, and copied city pages count as doorways.

PageWhat it answersWhat it needs
Replacement windowsSearches like "window replacement near me"Window types you install, full-frame or insert, your own install photos

RepairSearches like "window repair"What you fix, how soon you come, when repair beats replacement
Older homesOwners of older housesHow you work in them and any lead-safe certification you hold; the rules are on our window and door marketing page
Town pagesSearches like "window company [town]"Installs in that town, only where you work

Google's guidelines say a business that sells another brand's products should "use only the name of the business, excluding the name of the brand being sold." Only an "authorized and fully dedicated seller" of that brand may use the brand name in its profile. Its spam policies list "pages targeted at specific regions or cities that funnel users to one page" as doorway abuse.

Licensing records come up too. In North Carolina, a general contractor license is required "where the cost of the undertaking is forty thousand dollars ($40,000) or more," and the state's licensing board runs a public license search. That board's site was among the sites ChatGPT cited most in our 150 answers about named window companies. Not legal advice; check your own state. A new website is a separate project.

What should you ask before hiring a window and door SEO company?

Of eight window and door SEO agency pages we reviewed on November 1, 2026, three said anything about contract length, two said who owns the website, and none mentioned lead-safe rules or Google's rule on brand names in a Business Profile. Ask any agency, us included, these five questions in writing.

AskWhat a straight answer sounds like
Who owns the accounts and the website?Everything in your name, and you keep it if you leave.
How long am I committed?A short fixed start, then month to month, in writing.
Will you work with another window company in my area?A clear yes or no for your area, not "it depends."
Will you put a maker's brand in our Business Profile name?Only if you're an authorized and fully dedicated seller of that brand. Otherwise Google says use your own business name.
Will repair and replacement get separate pages?Yes, if you do both. A homeowner with a stuck sash and one replacing every window ask different questions.

Our answers on ownership, commitment and competitors are in the questions at the end of this page. You deal with Youssef Hodaigui directly: calls and texts are answered as they come in, emails usually within hours.

Questions about window and door SEO

How is window and door SEO priced?

With Mindflow, plans start at $2,800 a month for one metro, $4,500 for a metro and the cities around it, and $8,500 for three or more metros. Your price depends on how competitive window replacement is in your market and how many product lines you want to grow. There's no setup fee, and you get your exact price in writing first. See plans and prices.

We have a showroom. Does that change our Business Profile?

It can. If customers visit your showroom during business hours and you also install at their homes, Google's guidelines allow a hybrid setup: show the storefront address and set a service area. If no one visits, the address stays hidden. Either way, the hours, name and phone on your profile should match your site.

Should our site have a page for each window type?

For the types you want more of, yes. Someone researching bay windows or casements wants to see that style installed, where it fits and which products you carry. A page per type lets each search land on the right answer. Types you rarely install can share a replacement windows page.

Do doors need their own page, or can they share the windows page?

Give doors their own page if you want more door jobs. Someone replacing a front door asks about security, style and finish, not glass and frames, and searches for door installation by name. A separate page lets that search land on doors, and your Business Profile can list door installation as its own service. A shop that rarely installs doors can leave them on the main page.

How long does SEO take?

Usually months, not weeks. How fast depends on your competitors and on how complete your Business Profile and site are today.

Do you guarantee rankings?

No. No one can guarantee a spot on Google or in an AI answer. We show you the work and the results.

Is AI SEO extra?

No. AI search optimization is included in SEO in every plan.

Am I locked into a contract?

The first 90 days are committed and billed monthly. After that it's month to month with 30 days' notice.

Who owns my accounts and website?

You do. Every account stays in your name, and website files and copy are yours once paid.

Will you work with my competitor?

No. We won't work with your direct competitor in your area.

Do I need a new website?

Not always. If yours can't turn visits into calls, we'll say so and quote a site separately.

Do you run Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads?

Case by case. Our plans cover SEO, AI search, your Google Business Profile, reviews and conversion. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. Ad spend goes to the platform and isn't part of our fee.
