AI SEO for Tampa Bay Home-Service Companies

Mindflow helps Tampa Bay contractors get described accurately when customers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI who to call. In our October 2026 checks, ChatGPT named none of the Maps leaders in Tampa roofing or water damage, and answers checking a named company cited license records, review sites and company websites. AI search work is included in every SEO plan.

Did ChatGPT name Tampa's storm trades?

No, not from the top of the map. When we asked which Tampa companies a homeowner should call, ChatGPT named none of the six Maps top-three businesses in roofing and water damage. In HVAC, plumbing and remodeling it named 2 of 3 each. Across eight trades, it named 8 of 24.

Across all 50 metros, ChatGPT named 45 of 147 roofing and 45 of 149 water damage Maps leaders. So Tampa's zeros are a local result, not a national pattern.

Source: Mindflow Home-Service Visibility Study, Tampa checked October 3 and 4, 2026, one search day per trade. "Maps top three" is the first three Google Maps results at a fixed city point; the local pack is the map box inside Google's regular results. ChatGPT means the OpenAI API with web search, asked five times which companies a homeowner should call; "named" means named at least once. Counts from one sample, not rankings or predictions. No business is named. How the study was run.

Which license record covers work in Pinellas County?

Pinellas keeps its own list for county-certified contractors, but state-certified contractors are checked on the state's record. The Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board says state-certified contractors no longer register with it, and points to DBPR's license search, where only a status of "Current, Active" or "Probation, Active" may work in Florida.

AI answers check records like these. In our national study, answers about whether a named water damage company was legitimate cited a government or licensing site in 1,243 of 1,500 answers, and roofing in 1,322 of 1,500.

What should a Tampa roofer or water damage company check first?

Your credentials, then your pages. Those were the two Tampa trades where ChatGPT named no Maps leaders, and nationally they are the trades where answers checking a company cited manufacturer, certification or trade-body sources most: 892 of 1,500 roofing answers and 931 of 1,500 water damage answers.

One dated example from our own industry: on October 25, 2026, every page Perplexity cited for "AI SEO services in Tampa" named Tampa or Florida, 10 of 10, in a one-day API sample. It wasn't a contractor search, so read it as an example, not a rule.

Other trades get the same checks in their own terms. It's all part of the AI search work in every plan; the full scope is on our AI search optimization page. If your site can't carry these pages, a rebuild is a separate project: website design in Tampa.

Questions about AI search in Tampa

Why would ChatGPT skip Tampa roofers that lead Google Maps?
We can't say why from our data. In our October 4, 2026 check, ChatGPT named none of the three Tampa roofing businesses in the Maps top three, while naming 45 of 147 roofing Maps leaders across all 50 metros. Its answers draw on websites, license records and review sites, so those are where a roofer can make its case.
We're state-certified. Do we need to be on Pinellas County's contractor search?
According to the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board's search page, state-certified contractors no longer register with the board; their status is checked on DBPR's license search. Make sure your DBPR record and your website use the same licensed name and number. Not legal advice; confirm with the board and DBPR.
Our DBPR status says something other than "Current, Active". Does it matter?
It matters before AI answers do. The Pinellas board's notice says only "Current, Active" or "Probation, Active" may work in Florida, and the record is public. Fix the status with DBPR first. Then check that your website, Business Profile and BBB profile match the corrected record. Not legal advice.
Does a Tampa roofer's manufacturer certification count as a license?
No. A manufacturer certification is the manufacturer's own program; a Florida roofing license comes from DBPR's Construction Industry Licensing Board. AI answers cite both kinds of record: nationally, answers about named roofers cited manufacturer or certification sources in 892 of 1,500 cases and a government or licensing site in 1,322. Show each one on your site under its own name. Not legal advice.
ChatGPT named our Tampa HVAC company in your data. Do we still need AI search work?
Being named on one search day, in five answers, isn't a stable position. In our October 2026 Tampa check, 2 of 3 HVAC Maps leaders were named. Answers that check a company by name lean on other sources: nationally, the BBB appeared in 1,396 of 1,500 answers about HVAC companies. Keeping those accurate protects what you have.
How long does SEO take?
Usually months, not weeks. How fast depends on your competitors and on how complete your Business Profile and site are today.
Do you guarantee rankings?
No. No one can guarantee a spot on Google or in an AI answer. We show you the work and the results.
Is AI SEO extra?
No. AI search optimization is included in SEO in every plan.
Am I locked into a contract?
The first 90 days are committed and billed monthly. After that it's month to month with 30 days' notice.
Who owns my accounts and website?
You do. Every account stays in your name, and website files and copy are yours once paid.
Will you work with my competitor?
No. We won't work with your direct competitor in your area.
Do I need a new website?
Not always. If yours can't turn visits into calls, we'll say so and quote a site separately.
Do you run Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads?
Case by case. Our plans cover SEO, AI search, your Google Business Profile, reviews and conversion. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. Ad spend goes to the platform and isn't part of our fee.
