Quick answer

What does marketing for a house cleaning company need to do?

A cleaning buyer is deciding who gets a key and whether to commit to a schedule. Marketing has to show recurring plans and one-time jobs separately, prove the company is insured and its people are checked, make a quote or booking quick on a phone, and keep reviews coming from regular customers, not only first visits.

What makes house cleaning marketing different?

House cleaning is a recurring service sold on trust. The same customer can book you every two weeks for years, the first visit decides whether they do, and they're letting a stranger into their home. Residential and office work bring different buyers and, in some states, different rules. We plan your pages, profile and review timing around that.

  • Recurring and one-time are different searches.Someone looking for a weekly or biweekly plan isn't shopping like someone who needs a move-out clean by Friday. Each plan and each one-time job (deep clean, move-in or move-out, post-construction) gets its own page, its own service on your Business Profile and its own quote form.
  • Trust is the sale.A buyer handing over a key wants to know what you carry and who you send. The US Small Business Administration says businesses with employees are required to carry workers' compensation, under rules your state sets, and that general liability covers bodily injury and property damage. Not legal advice. We state what you carry, in plain words, where buyers check.
  • Reviews come from the second visit on.A recurring customer can leave a review any month, not just after the first clean. Requests go out from your own system after a clean, spaced so they don't read as a campaign, and replies are drafted for you to approve.
  • Price shoppers and gig platforms exist. Some buyers compare you with an app or a solo cleaner on price alone. Your pages show what's included, who comes and what happens if something breaks, so the comparison isn't only the hourly number.
  • Office cleaning is a separate line.Office and property managers compare scope, insurance and reliability, and some states regulate commercial janitorial work differently from house cleaning. If you want that work, it gets its own page and its own records (more below).
  • Google has an ad category for this trade.Google lists "House cleaning services" among its Local Services Ads categories, with carpet and window cleaning listed separately. Whether ads fit your market is a case-by-case call; when they do, we scope them in your proposal.

Plans and pricing

Every plan includes the same work; bigger plans cover more ground. Your proposal lists exactly what your plan includes.

Which records do people check before they hand you a key?

Insurance, background checks and bonding, stated where they look. A buyer who is about to give a cleaner a door code wants to see what you carry and who you send, on your site and your Business Profile, before they call. If you add office cleaning, that line has records of its own.

What "insured and bonded" means on your site. General liability covers injury or damage at a customer's home, and workers' compensation is required once you have employees, under rules your state sets, per the US Small Business Administration. A janitorial or business services bond, where you carry one, is typically what covers theft by an employee at a customer's property. Say which of these you carry, say who is background-checked and how often, and keep it in plain words. A one-line "insured and bonded" badge is common; the detail is what a careful buyer is looking for.

Residential and commercial can be regulated differently. In California, for example, a company that employs janitors for commercial work must register with the Labor Commissioner's Office every year ($500), while a company that only cleans residential dwellings is exempt. A client who hires an unregistered janitorial contractor there can be fined. So if you take on office cleaning in California, it is a separate line of business with its own registration, not an add-on to your house cleaning page. Other states differ; business registration itself is set by your state, county and city, and some licenses expire and need renewing. This is a planning summary, not legal advice. When we write those pages we look up your state's registration rule with you and show it where buyers and office managers look; that's part of writing the page, not legal advice.

What goes on a house cleaning company's website and profile?

A cleaning buyer wants to know what a visit includes, what it costs for their home, who will come and how to book without a phone call. These come first, mostly as new pages on the site you have; a new site is a separate project we'd quote only if yours can't take a booking on a phone.

  1. A page for each plan and each job typeweekly, biweekly and monthly plans with what's included and how long a visit takes; deep, move-in or move-out and post-construction cleans on their own pages.
  2. Pages for the neighborhoods and towns you route, so a buyer two towns over knows you come there, and so you can say no to the ones you don't.
  3. Your insurance, background-check and bonding statements where buyers look, on the site and the Business Profile. House cleaning wasn't one of the 8 trades in our study. In those trades, ChatGPT's answers about a named contractor cited the BBB in 10,582 of 11,982 answers, a government or licensing site in 10,288 and the company's own site in 9,557, so an insurance line that reads one way on your site and another on your profile is worth fixing (method).
  4. A quote or booking step that works on a phone, asking home size, bedrooms and bathrooms, and how often. We check that calls and forms are tracked.
  5. A review request after cleans, sent from your own system, with replies written for your sign-off or, once you trust the drafts, posted automatically. How we handle reviews and reputation.
  6. Answers to the questions buyers askwhat's included, whether the same cleaner comes each time, what you do if something is damaged, and how to skip or cancel a visit, in your own words.

FAQ

Questions house cleaning company owners ask

The work

Have you worked with house cleaning companies before?
Our published client story is Precision Fenceworks, a Georgia fence company we worked with for 8 years; its CEO describes the results on this page. We haven't published a house cleaning story, and our 50-metro study doesn't cover the trade. For a cleaning company we start with trust records and the split between recurring plans and one-time jobs, in your own towns. The free review shows where your profile and pages stand.
Can you help us sell recurring plans, not just one-time cleans?
Yes. Each plan gets a page that says what's included, how often you come and which towns you cover, with a quote step that asks frequency up front. One-time jobs keep their own pages, so a move-out request doesn't bury your plans. We help you ask recurring customers for reviews through the year. We can't promise how many plans you'll sign.
Do you market office or commercial cleaning separately?
Yes, if you want that work. Office managers and property managers compare scope, insurance and reliability, and in some states commercial janitorial work has its own registration, as the California example above shows. Commercial cleaning gets its own page, its own service on your Business Profile and its own records. How many service lines you want to grow is one of the things that sets your price.
Should we keep getting jobs from booking platforms?
That's your call; it's a different model. A platform can send the same request to several cleaners and can keep the customer relationship, including the recurring one you'd hope to keep for years. Bookings from your own Business Profile, website and reviews come to you only, and Mindflow doesn't sell or share them. For the trade-offs, see our leads and ads guides.
Who sends the review requests, and who answers the reviews?
Requests go out from your own system after a clean, and we help you set that up and time it so recurring customers are asked through the year, not only after the first visit. Our tool reads each new review and drafts a reply tailored to it. You approve the drafts, or once you've tested them and are happy, replies can post automatically. We never write reviews or offer anything for them.
Do I need a new website?
Not always. If yours can't turn visits into calls, we'll say so and quote a site separately.

Cost and terms

Am I locked into a contract?
The first 90 days are committed and billed monthly. After that it's month to month with 30 days' notice.
Who owns my accounts and website?
You do. Every account stays in your name, and website files and copy are yours once paid.
Will you work with my competitor?
No. We won't work with your direct competitor in your area.
Do you run Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads?
Case by case. Our plans cover SEO, AI search, your Google Business Profile, reviews and conversion. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. Ad spend goes to the platform and isn't part of our fee.

AI and results

How long does SEO take?
Usually months, not weeks. How fast depends on your competitors and on how complete your Business Profile and site are today.
Do you guarantee rankings?
No. No one can guarantee a spot on Google or in an AI answer. We show you the work and the results.
Is AI SEO extra?
No. AI search optimization is included in SEO in every plan.
