SEO for Carpet Cleaning Companies

Mindflow runs SEO for carpet cleaning companies. What does SEO do for a carpet cleaning company?

It puts your company in front of people who want a cleaning booked soon, and gives them enough to choose you without calling around. Carpet cleaning SEO covers the Google map, the regular results and AI answers like Google's AI Overviews and ChatGPT (in our research, the OpenAI API with web search). Bookings come through your own profile and site.

Mindflow doesn't sell or share leads. The searches that bring carpet cleaning work usually name one of three things:

  • A problem"pet urine in carpet" or "musty carpet after a leak."
  • A job and a place"upholstery cleaning near me" or "rug cleaning in [your town]."
  • Your namea past customer or a referral checking your reviews, your prices and whether your technicians are certified.

How carpet cleaners price their work, what buyers check and how commercial accounts decide are on our carpet cleaning marketing page.

How should a carpet cleaner set up its Google Business Profile?

As the business it really is. If customers never come to your address, Google says to remove it and list service areas instead. If people drop rugs off at a plant or shop, that address can show too. Pick the fewest categories that describe the core business, and list each kind of cleaning as a service.

  • The address. Many carpet cleaners run vans from a home or a rented bay. Google says: "If you don't serve customers at your business address, remove your address from your Business Profile." A hybrid business, one that "serves customers at its business address but also directly visits or delivers to them," enters both its address and its service area. A virtual office doesn't qualify unless it's staffed during business hours.
  • The categories.Google asks for "the fewest number of categories it takes to describe your overall core business" and says not to "select a category for every product or service." So upholstery, rugs and tile go in the services list. Google also says categories "affect your local ranking," so a restoration category belongs only on a company that really does restoration.
  • The name.Google's name rules bar service and location information, and adding them can get a profile suspended. Adding "steam", "certified" or a town to your name is a change we won't make.

What should each page on a carpet cleaning website rank for?

One search intent per page: the service, the searches that name it, and the proof a buyer wants before booking. Each page should match a service on your Business Profile. Carpet cleaning wasn't one of the trades in our website crawl, so this map comes from how buyers search and from Google's own rules, not from a count of sites.

PageSearches it should matchWhat earns it the ranking
Carpet cleaning"carpet cleaning near me", "carpet cleaning in [town]"Your method, typical drying time, what a room price includes
Upholstery"couch cleaning", "upholstery cleaning"Fabrics you clean, your own before-and-after photos
Area rugs"rug cleaning", "area rug cleaning near me"In-home or at a plant, pickup and drop-off
Tile and grout"tile and grout cleaning"Finished floors, sealing if you offer it
Pet odor and stains"pet urine carpet cleaning"How you treat odor, and what you can't promise
Commercial"commercial carpet cleaning"Schedules, after-hours work, buildings you service
Town pages"carpet cleaners in [town]"Jobs in that town, only where your vans go

The first detail that trips up carpet cleaning sites is the IICRC logo. The IICRC has published a list of firms it says "violated the IICRC Logo usage policy" because they "are not registered as IICRC Certified Firms." Employing certified technicians doesn't make a company a Certified Firm on its own; the firm applies, signs the code of ethics and renews each year. So the firm logo goes on your site only if your firm is registered, and certified technicians are named as technicians.

The second is structured data. Schema.org has types for movers, plumbers and roofers but none for carpet cleaning, so we mark your company up with schema.org's broader HomeAndConstructionBusiness type and list each cleaning as a service that the page itself describes (local business schema).

Sources: IICRC, list of firms that violated the logo usage policy (updated August 28, 2023); IICRC Certified Firms; schema.org, HomeAndConstructionBusiness; all read November 1, 2026.

Does a top spot on Google Maps carry over to the search results page?

For carpet cleaners in our 5-city study, rarely. Of the 15 carpet cleaners in the Google Maps top three across five cities, 2 also appeared in the local pack on Google's regular results page. That was the smallest overlap of the seven trades we checked. The others ranged from 3 to 9 of 15.

Our counts don't show why the lists differed. They do show that a map rank alone isn't the whole picture, so we check both, and the free review starts with where you appear on the map for three core searches. ChatGPT's results for carpet cleaners, and the sources it cited, are on our carpet cleaning marketing page.

Source: Mindflow research, our 5-city study (Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Houston and San Antonio), October 2026: the Google Maps top three for "carpet cleaning" and the three local-pack listings in each city, in seven trades (movers, general contractors, foundation repair, carpet cleaning, junk removal, landscaping, window replacement). Counts only. Reported separately from our 50-metro study, which doesn't cover carpet cleaning. How we ran our research.

What should you ask before hiring a carpet cleaning SEO company?

Of ten carpet cleaning SEO agency pages we reviewed on November 1, 2026, five said anything about contract length, none said who owns the accounts, and none mentioned IICRC certification or Google's address rule for companies run from home. Ask any agency, us included, for written answers to these five.

AskWhat a straight answer sounds like
Who owns the Business Profile, the site and the tracking? You do. It's all in your name, and it stays with you if you leave.
What am I committing to?A short fixed start, then month to month, spelled out in writing.
Will you also work for another carpet cleaner near me?A plain answer for your area, given before you sign.
What will you do with our home address?Off the profile if customers don't come there, with service areas listed instead, as Google's guidelines say.
How will you show our IICRC certification?Firm status only if the firm is registered, worded the same on every page and listing.

Our answers on ownership, commitment and competitors are in the questions below. You deal with Youssef Hodaigui directly. Calls and texts are answered as they come in; emails usually within hours.

Questions about carpet cleaning SEO

What does carpet cleaning SEO cost?
With Mindflow, plans start at $2,800 a month for one metro, $4,500 for a metro and the cities around it, and $8,500 for three or more metros. Your price depends on how competitive carpet cleaning is in your market and how many service lines you want to grow. There's no setup fee, and you get your exact price in writing first. See plans and prices.
We run the business from home. Will removing our address hurt us on Maps?
If customers don't come to your home, Google's guidelines say the address comes off either way. Service-area profiles exist for businesses like yours: you list up to 20 service areas in its place. Complete services, your own photos, steady reviews and real town pages then give Google and buyers the rest of the picture. We don't promise a map spot in any town.
Do blog posts about removing stains bring in bookings?
A few, and not the way they're often sold. Someone searching how to get wine out of a rug usually wants to try it first. A post that answers honestly, says when a stain needs a professional and links to your booking page can win some of them back later. Service and town pages come first, because those searchers already want a cleaner.
We do water extraction too. Should our profile say water damage?
Only if it's a real line of work with the crew and equipment behind it. A restoration category puts you in front of emergency callers who expect a restoration company. If extraction is occasional, list it as a service and say plainly what you handle. If it's a full line of work, our water damage restoration SEO page covers it.
How long does SEO take?
Usually months, not weeks. How fast depends on your competitors and on how complete your Business Profile and site are today.
Do you guarantee rankings?
No. No one can guarantee a spot on Google or in an AI answer. We show you the work and the results.
Is AI SEO extra?
No. AI search optimization is included in SEO in every plan.
Am I locked into a contract?
The first 90 days are committed and billed monthly. After that it's month to month with 30 days' notice.
Who owns my accounts and website?
You do. Every account stays in your name, and website files and copy are yours once paid.
Will you work with my competitor?
No. We won't work with your direct competitor in your area.
Do I need a new website?
Not always. If yours can't turn visits into calls, we'll say so and quote a site separately.
Do you run Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads?
Case by case. Our plans cover SEO, AI search, your Google Business Profile, reviews and conversion. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. Ad spend goes to the platform and isn't part of our fee.
