Local SEO for a plumber is the work that gets you found when a pipe bursts and when a homeowner is pricing a water heater or repipe. Emergency callers choose fast from what they see first; planned-job buyers compare pages and reviews. It covers the Google map, the regular results and AI answers like Google's AI Overviews and ChatGPT.
Homeowners look for a plumber in three ways:
What homeowners and AI tools check about a plumber, and how plumbing searches move through the year in each city, is on our plumbing marketing page.
Far more people search for "plumber" than for any single job we measured. Across the US, "plumber" averages about 673,000 searches a month in Google's estimates, with "drain cleaning" at about 90,500 and "water heater repair" at about 74,000. Each search happens in one town, so the work is getting found for those words in the towns you serve.
| Search (US) | Average monthly searches |
|---|---|
| Plumber | 673,000 |
| Drain cleaning | 90,500 |
| Water heater repair | 74,000 |
| City | "plumber" searches a month in the city |
|---|---|
| Atlanta | 3,600 |

A plumbing site needs a page for each service you want more of and a town page only where you have real work to show. In our crawl of 637 plumbing sites, 489 had five or more service pages and 214 had three or more location pages. Most homepages named the trade in their title tag; fewer named a city.
| On plumbing sites in our research | Count |
|---|---|
| Five or more service pages (of 637 sites) | 489 |
| Three or more location or service-area pages (of 637) | 214 |
| Homepage title names the trade (of 565 with a title) | 534 |
| Homepage title names a city (of 565) | 368 |
| LocalBusiness schema on the homepage (of 566) | 327 |
For a plumber, emergency pages and planned-job pages (water heaters, repipes, sewer lines) do different jobs and both belong.
Across all eight trades in our study, Maps top-three businesses that ChatGPT also named more often had three or more location pages (142 of 323 sites) than those it didn't name (156 of 752). LocalBusiness schema on the homepage didn't separate the two groups (139 of 298 homepages vs 352 of 648). For plumbing, ChatGPT named 57 of the 149 plumbers in the Maps top three, so a map spot and an AI mention are separate results, and we work on both.
Site counts: Mindflow research, saved website crawls and homepages of home-service businesses in 50 metros, October 2026, counted from our saved data files, before the study's final review. An association, not a cause: named businesses also tend to be bigger. ChatGPT counts: Mindflow Home-Service Visibility Study, 50 US metros, October 3–17, 2026; ChatGPT means the OpenAI API with web search, asked which companies a homeowner should call. How the study was run.

A page for each service and town you really cover, answers to the questions customers ask, and a review process your team can run.
New pages where the searches are, review replies, changes that turn more visits into calls, and a plain report on what we did, what moved and what's next. You get a written report every month and a call every quarter.
Of nine agency pages that ranked for plumbing SEO and marketing searches in Google's US results on October 21, 2026, three stated contract terms and four said who owns the accounts. Ask any plumbing SEO company, us included, these five questions, and get the answers in writing.
| Ask | What a straight answer sounds like |
|---|---|
| Who owns the accounts and the website? | Everything in your name, and you keep it if you leave. |
| How long am I committed? | A short fixed start, then month to month, in writing. |
| Will you work with another plumber in my area? | A clear yes or no for your area, not "it depends." |
| How do you handle emergency and after-hours searches? | Your hours, phone and service area right on your profile and site, and call and form tracking checked, so your report shows when calls come in. |
| Do the calls come only to me? | Calls from your own profile and site are yours alone, not shared with other plumbers. |
