Why do AI Overviews matter most for local businesses?
AI Overviews appear above conventional results for a growing share of queries, including ones with clear local intent. A business that ranks well but is absent from the Overview has lost the position that gets read first. That is why this chapter treats the Overview as a surface in its own right, and not as a by-product of ranking.
It is also the surface most tightly coupled to conventional search foundations, crawlability, structured data, entity consistency, and the local signals that drive the map pack. Much of the work overlaps with what good local SEO already required.
Which Google surfaces does Mindflow sample, and which does it not?
AI Overviews are in our counted set and sampled three times per question under controlled conditions. Google AI Mode is spot coverage only and is not part of the counted set. We look at it, we do not score it, and we say so rather than folding an unsampled surface into a number.
| Surface | In the counted set? | How we treat it | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI Overviews | In our counted set. | Sampled three times per question under controlled conditions. | Mindflow measurement protocol, published at /methodology/. Not a Google publication. |

Can anyone guarantee a place in AI Overviews?
No. Overview presence fluctuates for reasons unrelated to anything an agency did, the feature itself appears and disappears by query and by week. Anyone offering a guarantee on AI Overview presence is guaranteeing the behaviour of a product they do not control.
A quarter where the number falls gets reported as a number that fell, with whatever we know about why.
Rankings are never guaranteed. Anything we could not trace to a primary source is absent from this page, not estimated. The audit runs the same six layers described on the pricing page, and Share of Answer is scored quarterly.
