Roofing PPC: Google Ads and Local Services Ads for Roofers

For a roofer, an ad budget has to move when storms do, and an ad has to stay clear of what your state bars about insurance claims. Google Ads charges per click and Local Services Ads per lead for roof repair, inspection and replacement searches. Mindflow handles ads case by case. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal, alongside SEO, your Business Profile and reviews.

When do ads make sense for a roofing company?

Ads make sense for a roofer with crews free to take more inspections, a profit per roof that can carry several leads before one signs, and a phone someone answers. They're a poor fix for a thin Business Profile or a short review list, because Local Services Ads show your rating, and often your review count, in the ad.

Good signs:

  • You can take more work now, in towns you can name, and you know which jobs you want: repairs, replacements or inspections.
  • The numbers carry it.A replacement can pay for several leads before one books; a small repair often can't. Our marketing budget guide works out the most you can pay per lead.
  • Your reviews hold up next to the roofers around you.

Not yet:

  • Daytime calls go to voicemail. On Local Services Ads, a missed call during your business hours can still be charged.
  • There's no page for the job you'd advertise.A replacement click that lands on your homepage has to find its own way.

If you're weighing ads against ranking on the map for free, start with local SEO vs Local Services Ads and SEO vs PPC.

What does Google check before a roofer can run Local Services Ads?

For roofers, Google lists business and owner background checks, registration, general liability insurance and state licenses where local law requires them, each for "select users," so your dashboard shows which apply. Roofing isn't an urgent category, so unlike HVAC, plumbing, electrical and garage door, Google doesn't list background checks for every worker who goes to the job.

What that means in practice:

  • Your license checks depend on your state.Google marks them "where applicable by local law" and validates licenses against state databases.
  • The badge is Google Verified. It replaced Google Guaranteed. Two of the 10 roofing PPC agency pages we read on November 1, 2026 still described Google Guaranteed as current, and none named Google Verified. More in our Google Verified definition.
  • Your Business Profile has to be public and verified.Local Services ties to it, so its name, address and hours need to be right first.
  • Re-checks depend on where your account lives. On the Local Services dashboard, Google may ask you to repeat a check from time to time. Roofing is on Google's list for the first wave of its LSA move into Google Ads: select storefront advertisers from August 2026, roofers who work from a service area in late 2026, and all other accounts in 2027. Once moved, Google drops license and insurance reverification, turns your weekly budget into a daily average and retires manual per-lead bids; the details are on our Local Services Ads page.

Should roofing ads send homeowners to your website or your Google profile?

It depends on the job. A Local Services Ad sends the homeowner to your Local Services profile, with your rating, reviews and completed checks, not to your replacement page. A Search ad can land on the page for that exact job. So urgent repairs suit either; replacements are better served by a Search ad and a strong page.

When should a roofer raise or cut ad budgets?

When searches in your own market rise, not on a fixed date. Across the US, the busiest month for roofing searches was September in 2023 (tied with December) and 2024, then March in 2025, and the gap between the quietest and busiest month roughly doubled after 2023. Storms move roofing demand faster than any calendar.

Year (US)Busiest monthQuietest monthBusiest ÷ quietest
2023September and December (tied)FebruaryAbout 1.3
2024SeptemberAprilAbout 2.7
2025MarchNovemberAbout 2.7

For ads, that argues for budgets you can move within days. Search budgets are set daily; a Local Services budget is set weekly until your account moves into Google Ads, where it becomes a daily average. Either way you can pause, so keep campaigns built and paused in quiet months, so a hailstorm doesn't start a rebuild. Selected cities are on our roofing marketing page.

Google rounds these estimates, so close months can swap places. Searches aren't booked jobs.

What can a roofing ad say about insurance claims?

Check your state's law before an ad mentions roof claims or deductibles; Florida is the clearest example. An ad urging a homeowner to contact a contractor about a roof claim must carry three statements in large type, and offering a residential property owner gifts or a deductible waiver for a roof inspection or claim is banned. This isn't legal advice.

What Florida Statutes section 489.147 says, in short:

  • The three statementsthe consumer pays any insurance deductible; knowingly or willfully paying, waiving or rebating all or part of a deductible, with intent to injure, defraud or deceive, is a third-degree felony; intentionally filing a claim with false, incomplete or misleading information is a third-degree felony. They must be at least 12-point type and at least half the size of the largest type in the ad. The statute sets the exact wording; use it, not this summary.
  • What counts"any written or electronic communication by a contractor" of that kind, including "door hangers, business cards, magnets, flyers, pamphlets, and e-mails."
  • What's banned outrightoffering "a rebate, gift, gift card, cash, coupon, waiver of any insurance deductible, or any other thing of value" in exchange for a roof inspection or a roof claim.
  • The penaltyup to $10,000 per violation for a contractor.

The statute doesn't mention search ads by name, and a search ad has little room for three statements. Ask your attorney how it applies before a claim-focused ad runs, in Florida or anywhere else. Our construction advertising guide covers state license-number rules.

What should a roofer ask before hiring anyone to run ads?

Ask who owns the accounts, how storm surges get budgeted and what the report counts. Of the 10 roofing PPC agency pages we read on November 1, 2026, none said who owns the ad account and one stated its contract terms. Put these questions to anyone who'd run your ads, and get the answers in writing.

AskWhat to listen for
Which roofing jobs and towns will be switched on in Local Services Ads?Only the work and areas you name; Google no longer credits leads for job types or areas you don't serve
What happens when a storm hits our area? How budgets get raised or paused, with no promise of storm leads
Will any ad mention insurance claims or deductibles? Not before you've checked your state's rules; in Florida, s. 489.147 sets the statements
Where will replacement clicks land?A replacement page, not your homepage
How will inspections and signed roofs be counted?Inspection requests and signed jobs by campaign, not clicks

Quick answer

How does Mindflow handle ads for a roofing company?

Case by case. Our program combines SEO and AI search optimization with review requests, your Google Business Profile and conversion work. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. You own every account, and ad spend goes to the platform, outside our fee.

We don't promise leads, rankings or a return on ad spend. How the program works for roofers is on SEO for roofing contractors; the wider picture is in our PPC overview.

The free AI Visibility Review doesn't look inside ad accounts; it covers your map position, Business Profile gaps and how your reviews compare with your top three competitors, which is what a Local Services Ad is built on.

Questions about roofing PPC

Does a replacement lead cost the same as a repair lead on Local Services Ads?

Not necessarily. Google says lead prices vary with your location, the job type, the type of lead and your bidding mode, and message leads are usually priced below phone leads, though not always. There's no price list, so work out your own ceiling per job in our marketing budget guide. Ad spend is paid to Google.

Do roofers need Google's advanced verification to run Google Ads?

No. In the US, Google's local services ad policy restricts only locksmith and garage door repair ads, which need advanced verification. Roofing isn't on that list, as read on November 1, 2026. Local Services Ads are different: every roofer goes through Google's screening for that product, as described above.

Should we stop ads after storm season?

You can pause or cut them, and Google says a free version of your listing may still show when your Local Services Ad is paused or outside its schedule. What keeps working is your Business Profile, your reviews and your pages. Pausing doesn't erase campaigns, so you can restart when searches rise again.

Can we run Local Services Ads in a storm-hit area outside our usual towns?

Only where you'll really work and hold any license the area requires. You pick service areas by county, city or ZIP code, and Google checks state licenses where local law applies. Google also stopped crediting out-of-area leads, so a wide area you can't serve costs you. For other ways to find roofing work, see our roofing leads guide.

How long does SEO take?

Usually months, not weeks. How fast depends on your competitors and on how complete your Business Profile and site are today.

Do you guarantee rankings?

No. No one can guarantee a spot on Google or in an AI answer. We show you the work and the results.

Is AI SEO extra?

No. AI search optimization is included in SEO in every plan.

Am I locked into a contract?

The first 90 days are committed and billed monthly. After that it's month to month with 30 days' notice.

Who owns my accounts and website?

You do. Every account stays in your name, and website files and copy are yours once paid.

Will you work with my competitor?

No. We won't work with your direct competitor in your area.

Do I need a new website?

Not always. If yours can't turn visits into calls, we'll say so and quote a site separately.

Do you run Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads?

Case by case. Our plans cover SEO, AI search, your Google Business Profile, reviews and conversion. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. Ad spend goes to the platform and isn't part of our fee.
