Windows and doors

Window and Door PPC: Google Ads and Local Services Ads for Window Companies

Window ads lean on offers like "buy one, get one free," and a federal guide sets what "free" may mean. The sale also closes weeks after the click, in a living room, so an account that counts form fills can't tell a good campaign from a bad one. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal, as part of a program with our SEO, Business Profile, review and conversion work. You own every account.

When do ads make sense for a window and door company?

When your sales calendar has room for in-home estimates, you know what a sold job is worth and how many estimates it takes to close one, and the leads can be tied back to sales. Replacement windows are a large, considered purchase, so an ad's real result shows up weeks later as a signed contract.

Good signs:

  • Estimate capacitysomeone free to run the appointments the ads book, in the towns the ads reach.
  • Separate pages for separate jobsreplacement windows, entry doors, patio doors and repair, each with its own estimate request.
  • A record of what solda CRM or spreadsheet that ties each sale back to the lead it came from.
  • Offers you can repeat honestly, within the limits in the next section.

Not yet: when estimates go unbooked for days, paid leads cool off before anyone visits. How ads compare with earning free search results is in SEO vs PPC.

Can a window ad say "buy one, get one free"?

Yes, if it's real by the FTC's definition. Its guide on the word "free" says the buyer pays "no more than the regular price" for the item they buy, and the regular price is the price over the prior 30 days. The conditions have to be clear "at the outset," and a footnote marked by an asterisk doesn't count.

What the FTC guide says, applied to window ads:

FTC guideFor a window or door ad
"Buy 1-Get 1 Free" and "2-for-1" offers are coveredThe paid window can't cost more than it did before the offer
Regular price is set over "a 30-day period"Keep a record of what the window sold for in the 30 days before the promotion
A "free" offer is improper when the price is "arrived at through bargaining," or when no substantial sales were made at the regular priceIf every job is quoted in the home and negotiated, there may be no regular price to anchor a "free" window; ask counsel before running one
Conditions "clearly and conspicuously at the outset"Minimum quantities and which windows qualify go in the ad and at the top of the page, not behind an asterisk
A single kind of service "should not be advertised with a 'Free' offer in a trade area for more than 6 months in any 12-month period"A permanent "free window" offer stops being an offer
"At least 30 days" between such offers, and "no more than three" in 12 months in the same areaPlan promotions on a calendar

Google adds its own rule: ads can't use "pricing practices that create a false or misleading impression of the cost." The guide is FTC guidance, not a statute, and states have their own rules. This isn't legal advice. What windows ads can no longer say about the federal tax credit is on our window and door marketing page.

What can Local Services Ads do for a window and door company?

Repair work for certain, and maybe more. Google's category is "Window repair services," and its requirements page describes those pros as people who "install and repair windows and may also service skylights, doors, and other types of glass." Google doesn't publish the job types; you see which replacement or door jobs you can switch on when you add the industry.

What that means in practice:

  • Check the job types before you plan around it.If replacement or door jobs aren't offered where you work, run that work on regular Google Ads. Google lists business and owner checks, registration, general liability insurance and state licenses where local law requires them, each "Select users only."
  • Garage doors are a different, restricted category. In the US, Google says "Ads for locksmith services and garage door repair services are restricted" and require advanced verification. A window and door company shouldn't be paying for garage door searches anyway.
  • Look-alike searches to blockwindow cleaning, blinds and curtains, window tint, auto glass and garage doors. Google says negatives "won't match to close variants or other expansions," so add plurals by hand.

Local Services Ads are moving into Google Ads in phases. Window repair is not named in the first group, which began in August 2026 for select home and storefront advertisers; companies without a storefront are slated for late 2026 and other categories for 2027. Google transfers the full account in one step and then shuts the old dashboard; budgets become a daily average. See our Local Services Ads page.

How do you judge window ads when the sale closes weeks later?

By sending the sale back to Google Ads. Offline conversion imports measure "what happens in the offline world after your ad results in a click or call." Google recommends starting with enhanced conversions for leads, which match on hashed details like email; the older method saves Google's click ID with each lead and uploads it when the job sells.

The stages worth counting, in order:

  1. Leada call or estimate request, counted the day it happens.
  2. Appointment setthe estimate is on the calendar.
  3. Appointment heldsomeone was home and saw the options.
  4. Solda signed contract, uploaded with its value.

Counting all four shows where a campaign leaks: cheap leads that never set appointments, or appointments that never close. Lead attribution explains the record-keeping behind it.

What do window and door PPC pages leave out?

The rules for offers, and the sale itself. Of six window and door PPC agency pages we read on November 1, 2026, none mentioned the FTC guide on "free" offers or any other ad rule for the trade, two said in words that the client owns the ad account, and two described importing sales.

Quick answer

Where do ads sit in Mindflow's program for window companies?

Case by case, as one part of a program built on SEO (AI search included), reviews, your Business Profile and conversion work. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. You own every account, and ad spend is paid to the platform, not included in our fee.

Homeowners compare installers for weeks, so for a window company the program builds pages for each product line, each with its own estimate request, and the reviews they'll read along the way. We check that calls and forms are tracked. Appointments, rankings and returns aren't promised. Our published case is a fence company's SEO, web design and reputation work, not ads. Questions about window and door PPC

How do we set a lead-cost limit when a sale closes weeks later?

Work back from a sold job: take its margin, multiply by your closing rate on held appointments and by the share of leads that set one. That's the most a lead can cost before a campaign loses money. Clicks are priced in an auction; Keyword Planner's bid ranges show what advertisers in your area have paid. Ad spend goes to Google.

Should doors have their own campaigns?

Yes, if you sell them. Someone searching for an entry door or a patio door wants door styles, security and installation details, not a window offer. Separate campaigns let each product carry its own budget and page, and the sales you import show which line pays.

Are Local Services leads worth it for a replacement company?

Only for the job types you switch on and want. Google names the category for window repair, though its requirements page says those pros also install windows and may service doors. Toggle on only the jobs you do, since leads for job types you don't service no longer earn a credit. If replacement isn't offered, put that budget into Google Ads.

How long before we know if window ads work?

Longer than in trades where the job happens on the first visit. Leads arrive in days, but sales take weeks to close, so judge early weeks on appointments set and held, then on sales as they're uploaded. A campaign that looks expensive per lead can look fine per sale, and the reverse.

How long does SEO take?

Usually months, not weeks. How fast depends on your competitors and on how complete your Business Profile and site are today.

Do you guarantee rankings?

No. No one can guarantee a spot on Google or in an AI answer. We show you the work and the results.

Is AI SEO extra?

No. AI search optimization is included in SEO in every plan.

Am I locked into a contract?

The first 90 days are committed and billed monthly. After that it's month to month with 30 days' notice.

Who owns my accounts and website?

You do. Every account stays in your name, and website files and copy are yours once paid.

Will you work with my competitor?

No. We won't work with your direct competitor in your area.

Do I need a new website?

Not always. If yours can't turn visits into calls, we'll say so and quote a site separately.

Do you run Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads?

Case by case. Our plans cover SEO, AI search, your Google Business Profile, reviews and conversion. When paid ads fit your market and goals, we scope Google Ads, Local Services Ads or ChatGPT ads in your proposal. Ad spend goes to the platform and isn't part of our fee.
